We are delighted to inform you that it is now possible to browse and explore the Summer Fields archive online. It has taken just over a year to complete the first stage of this exciting project to digitise and preserve the School's archive and it is now accessible and available to the entire Summer Fields community. The school is most grateful to an anonymous donor whose generous donation has made this project possible.
We are indebted to Nick Aldridge, OS (1948 – 1954) former School Master and Deputy Headmaster, who in his later years, from 1987 onwards, dedicated himself to establishing the Summer Fields’ archives. His work has been continued and developed by our current librarian and archivist, Laurence Dardenne.
The collection contains material dating back to when the school was founded in 1864 to the present day and includes:-
We will be developing the digtal archive and adding further content, such as podcasts and interviews with Old Summerfieldians and former staff, as well as an historical timeline.
You can access the Summer Fields archive via the Old Summerfieldian online community. In order to access the archive, if you have not already done so, please sign up here.
If you have photographs or memorabilia relating to Summer Fields that you would like to contribute to the school archive, please contact our archivist, Laurence Dardenne. Or, if you have a query regarding the archive, please get in touch with Ms Dardenne.
We are interested to receive your feedback about the digital archive and to hear your suggestions for additional material or features which you would like to see on the digital archive. Please get in touch by email to: alumni@summerfields.com
