OS Peter Buxton (1968-1973) is hosting Waterperry Opera Festival performances of MANSFIELD PARK at Kirtlington Park on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th September.

Written by Jonathan Dove and based on Jane Austen’s much-loved Mansfield Park, this contemporary and charming opera has been composed and is performed in a classical style.  Ten singers, accompanied on the piano, form an ensemble of loveable entertaining characters who pull at our heartstrings and make us laugh out loud.  The production has received widespread critical acclaim and has enjoyed three sold-out runs at Waterperry Opera Festival over the years.

A bit about Kirtlington Park: surrounded by glorious Capability Brown parkland, the house is Grade I listed and said to be the second largest residence in Oxfordshire after Blenheim Palace. However, the striking difference from many listed properties is that Kirtlington Park is a family home rather than a museum.  Peter and Eleanor Buxton have enjoyed the last six years improving and upgrading the property; extensive works in the garden have reinstated Mr Brown’s original concept, while the interiors now reflect the Buxton’s interests and enthusiasm for fabrics and colour. Kirtlington Park is available for private events, weddings, corporate events, filming and photoshoots. Find our more about Kirtlington Park at https://kirtlingtonpark.co.uk/.
