Newton Bus undergoes complete refurbishment

The Newton bus was used to transport sick boys to the sanatorium. Does anyone remember this? Did you ride in the Newton bus? Can you tell us anything about the Newton bus? Share your comments below.

The Newton Bus, as it was referred to, was used to transport sick boys to the sanatorium which in those days was located in Newton*.  In an effort to preserve a significant part of the school's heritage, the Newton Bus has gone off to be fully refurbished and we look forward to its return when we will share further photos of the 'bus'.

We would love to hear from Old Summerfieldians who may remember the Newton Bus and who can share with us their stories and anecdotes.  Perhaps you have some photographs of the Newton Bus that you could share? Feel free to comment below.  For example, does anyone know where it came from?

We plan to place the restored and refurbished Newton Bus in the new 'Living Archive Display' once the new library is completed next year.  It would be wonderful to have new stories to share about the Newton Bus that we could also include in the Living Archive.

*Newton - In September 2018 our new Pre-Prep opened its doors. Summer Fields' Pre-prep is housed in Newton, one of the oldest and most historic buildings on the school's 70 acre site.
